Our designs combine elegance and balance, such as typified by the Georgian period, with the clarity of contemporary works. Fundamentally our philosophy is that a piece of furniture should be a study in classical tradition — a dignified, grammatical and coherent structure, executed in a way that reflects the character and movement of the timber. It should have visual strength and balance, neither overbalanced nor overbearing.
A piece of commissioned furniture should complement its surroundings and at the same time, should be complemented by them. Above all, whether our designs are traditional or contemporary, they should never be controversial by using shock tactics to announce their presence.
In keeping with our design philosophy, we use traditional construction techniques such as dovetailing and mortice and tenon joints, together with modern machining methods and adhesives.
All our work is made to order, designed to meet each customer's unique requirements.
As a first stage we normally visit you to discuss your thoughts and to look at the siting of the proposed piece.
From this meeting we will produce drawings, sketches and samples as necessary to illustrate our proposals including the chosen timber and finishes, and a total price. There are often several iterations here while the design is developed to a level that you, the customer, are totally happy with.
When an order is placed we confirm delivery and installation dates.
